SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Originally set for Jan. 29, the postponed Women’s Conference held by First Baptist Church will proceed this Saturday, March 12, after having been delayed due to the outbreak of COVID-19 through the winter months.

The doors of the church will open at 8:15 a.m. with the first of three sessions set to start at 9:00 a.m.

The guest speaker will be Iva May, author of multiple worship and discipleship books. She and her husband Stand lead the Chronological Bible Teaching Ministries.

The three sessions will include subject material such as how our view of God matters, spiritual formation and walking by faith, and the 14 eras of the Bible.

“Some of our team members were introduced to Iva’s study “Women, Worldview, and the World” several years ago and we actually had several groups go through her study of the 14 Eras of the Bible at that time,” said Janet Peterson, part of the Ladies First Planning Team (LFPT). “We’re so happy to be able to have Iva here to teach us in person this year.”

Peterson and the LFPT have held two other Women’s Conferences before. Both centered on the Apologetics which focuses on “preparing and encouraging women to defend their faith in a world that seems to be drifting further away from faith in God.”

This time around, the group wanted to teach Biblical literacy so that the women in attendance could go out into the world and “defend what you believe.”

All donations accepted at the conference will go towards benefiting Resources for Women which helps women who are pregnant or in need of support.

“We are so pleased to be hosting this event for our church and community,” Peterson said, “and hope [women in the community] will make plans to join us Saturday at 9:00 a.m. for a day of fellowship, good food, and Bible study.”

Tickets are $30 per person, and the cost includes a lunch catered by Cuppa Grace. You can purchase tickets at the First Baptist Church front office or online at joinfirst.net.
