CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – J. Chad Jones, President and CEO of First Bank of Alabama, highlighted three aspects of the bank when addressing those gathered to help celebrate the grand opening of the bank’s fourteenth branch office, and the fifth in Talladega County – history, growth, and community involvement.
“Here we are in the oldest continuously-occupied city in America, opening a new branch of Alabama’s oldest continually-operating bank, the third oldest in America,” said Jones, “That historic combination is not lost on us. It is our name, First Bank of Alabama.”
“At First Bank of Alabama, we expect personal and professional growth from our staff. Should we not as a bank do the same?” asked Jones.
“We now have bank branches in Talladega County’s four incorporated cities – Talladega, Lincoln, Sylacauga, and now Childersburg, along with the Town of Munford. We have added strategically located, full-service, stand-alone ATMs in Talladega, Winterboro, Stemley Crossroads, and in neighboring Rockford in Coosa County. We also serve Clay, Randolph, Calhoun, Chilton, and Cleburne counties.”
“When I first met with Childersburg Mayor Ken Wesson to discuss the opportunity to locate a branch in his city, he told me that all he wanted was a good community partner. We immediately became that, sponsoring a youth league team, and we still do,” added Jones, “We are proud to partner with the communities we serve.”
Mayor Wesson echoed that, saying, “It’s an honor to welcome First Bank of Alabama to Childersburg and to express how much we appreciate the ways they have gotten involved in our city, even before construction of this beautiful new building was completed.”
Jones said that the new Childersburg branch is dedicated to Ronny and Joyce Baker.
“They adamantly supported this move, urging us as customers to, ‘Please, come to Childersburg,’ as they helped us find this property for this new Childersburg branch.”
Jones reminded everyone of the pride First Bank of Alabama takes in being a community-based bank serving rural communities, where everybody knows your name.
“No, we’re not Cheers, we’re First Bank of Alabama, and we’re here to make the communities we serve better, as it makes us better and stronger, too.”
