CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – First Bank of Alabama is set to expand its presence in East Central Alabama with the announcement of a new branch coming to Childersburg.
J. Chad Jones, President and CEO of First Bank of Alabama, recently revealed to SylacaugaNews.com the decision to enhance the financial institution’s footprint in Talladega County.
The bank secured an outparcel purchase in the Piggly Wiggly parking lot, right off of Hwy 280, for a state-of-the-art, 2,400-square foot facility. Groundbreaking is anticipated in the second quarter of 2024 with a target opening date in the first quarter of 2025, pending regulatory approval.
Jones emphasized the importance of growing in their own backyard, focusing on smaller hometown communities.
“It’s part of our mission statement,” Jones said. “Part of our growth opportunity is to make sure that we’re not growing into a metro Birmingham or Huntsville or Montgomery. We’re growing where people live, work, and worship. It’s important to us to make sure that we take care of our backyard as well as the people who support us.”
With roots dating back to 1848, First Bank of Alabama continues its legacy as the oldest continuously-operating bank in the state. Headquartered in Talladega, the bank now serves those in Talladega, Clay, Randolph, Calhoun, Chilton, and Cleburne counties.
As they expand, the bank remains dedicated to putting the needs of their customers first.
“If you keep your money local and support those that support you,” noted Jones, “your communities will grow, prosper and thrive.”
