First annual Canine Turkey Trot Hike taking place at Lake Howard this Saturday, Nov. 15

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Sylacauga Parks and Recreation and the Sylacauga Animal Shelter will team up to host the first annual Canine Turkey Trot Hike from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15, at the Sylaward Trail at Lake Howard.

Participants are invited to join shelter staff and volunteers for a festive “canine turkey trot,” walking adoptable dogs along the scenic trail. After the hike, visitors can stop by the Gobble-Gobble Station to enjoy turkey chili and turkey hot dogs.

The Sylacauga Animal Shelter will be closed that day as staff assist with the event. Organizers encourage residents to come out, enjoy the fall weather, and support local shelter pets in need of homes.
