Fire but no spill from train near Sylacauga on Monday afternoon, Dec. 23

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – A train carrying sodium peroxide caught fire near Sylacauga’s Nemak Industries on Monday afternoon, Dec. 23.

Sylacauga Fire Chief Nate Osgood reports that a train car had an issue with the axel and something underneath caught fire. No product was leaked, spilled, compromised, or on fire in any way.

Osgood added that the fire was quickly extinguished and the situation brought under control.
