SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Southern Dance and Performing Arts Company (SDPAC) will present the fifth annual “Christmas Angels” ballet this weekend on Sunday, Nov. 19.
SDPAC, a program through the Sylacauga Alliance for Family Enhancement (SAFE), will share an original ballet called “Christmas Angels” on Sunday, Nov. 19 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sylacauga High School (SHS) auditorium.
“Christmas Angels” was developed and choreographed by Jeanna Sumners, the Artistic Coordinator at SDPAC. Her inspiration draws from a story she and her sister came up with as children as they passed the time until Christmas Day.
The ballet is an idea inspired out of awareness for displaced children. This original production begins with a festive scene of the Christmas season contrasted with the loneliness and brokenness the children without homes experience at the holidays.
The performance highlights the needs of children in the community and is a way for the dancers to bring holiday cheer to other children. Any profits generated from “Christmas Angels” will be used to purchase needed items for the children in the Talladega County Foster Care Program.
Tickets may be purchased for $15 at sdpac.net or at the door for $20.
