FAYETTEVILLE, Ala. – Fayetteville High School (FHS) sophomore Kenleigh McArthur has been named the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) Class 1A Girls Volleyball Player of the Year for 2024 by the Alabama High School Volleyball Coaches Association.
McArthur, who helped the Wolves to a 26-12 record, excelled on the court, recording 108 aces, 373 kills, 33 assists, and 244 digs over the season. Her impressive performance also earned her a spot on the All-State team, joined by teammates, senior Aubreigh Burns and sophomore Isabella Kelley.
Fayetteville showed particular dominance at home with a 17-3 record, showcasing the strength of the team under head coach Ginger McArthur.
“We’re very proud of her,” said Kenleigh’s father, Kennon McArthur. “We just hoped that she would make the All-State team, and when Ginger got the email that she was Player of the Year, that was pretty special.”
The Player of the Year recognition noted McArthur’s remarkable season as one of the state’s top young talents in Class 1A volleyball, positioning her as a key player to watch going forward. As she continues her high school career, McArthur’s future in volleyball looks bright.
