Fayetteville Wolves resist sting of Yellow Jackets, capture huge road win at Vincent

SHARE NOW

VINCENT, Ala. – Area play is starting to ramp up for some of the high school baseball teams in and around the Coosa Valley, and the Fayetteville Wolves grabbed a significant win on the road Tuesday evening, March 14, by defeating a very good Vincent Yellow Jacket team.

Fayetteville’s Braydon Williams was spectacular on the hill for Coach Matt Collier.

An outstanding performance by Williams showed up great in the stat books as well as he went all seven innings capturing the win. Williams pitched a shutout allowing only two hits while striking out five and, most importantly, not giving up any free bases on walks.

Williams along with Zeke Deloach and Raley Curtis all had hits for the Wolves. The visiting team garnered only three hits for the game, but they came at the right time in the seventh inning as the road team scored two runs.

Aiden Poe pitched brilliantly for the Yellow Jackets, only giving up two runs on three hits while striking out 11 different Wolves.

Fayetteville hung on for a 2-0 win and a lead in the area now with Vincent coming to Fayetteville on Thursday for the last two games of the area set.

Coach Matt Collier said, “Braydon Williams was lights out on the mound for us from the first pitch to the last. The guys executed the game plan to perfection. We found a way to keep it close until the end of the game and scratched out a couple of runs in the seventh inning to get the victory. It was truly a great team win.”
