Elks Lodge in Childersburg running blood drive on Jan. 7

CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – Chapter 2295 of Elks USA, located in Childersburg, will be hosting an emergency blood drive on Saturday, Jan. 7, from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

The drive is being run by LifeSouth Community Blood Centers (LSCBC).

In order to participate in an LSCBC drive, a donor must be at least 17 years of age, weigh 110 pounds or more, and have a photo I.D. on hand.

All participants will receive a $20 electronic gift card as well as a free cholesterol screening.

Walk-ins are welcome, but if you’d like to make an appointment, you can do so here.

Elks USA was founded in New York City in 1868. The organization’s purpose, according to their website, is to “promote and practice the four cardinal virtues of Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love and Fidelity; to promote the welfare and enhance the happiness of its members; and, to quicken the spirit of American Patriotism and cultivate good fellowship.”

The Elks Lodge in Childersburg is located on Hwy 280 next to Atkinson Homes and across from Cadence Bank.
