COOSA COUNTY, Ala. – A Sylacauga man died Monday afternoon, Aug. 11 in a single-vehicle crash in Coosa County, authorities have reported.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, 76-year-old James E. Carter Jr. was driving a 2014 Nissan Versa when the vehicle left the roadway on Hwy 231 and struck an embankment about 3:00 p.m.
The crash occurred near mile marker 185, about three miles south of Rockford. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency noted that Carter was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene.
No other vehicles were involved, and no one else was injured.
Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident.
Officials did not release additional details as of Tuesday, Aug. 12.
