TALLADEGA COUNTY, Ala. – Eight Talladega County Schools educators have earned National Board Certification, one of the most rigorous and respected credentials in the teaching profession, the district announced this week. Two additional educators completed their Maintenance of Certification, reaffirming their continued commitment to high standards in classroom instruction and leadership.
Newly certified educators include:
Tara Armbrester, district special education specialist
Shannon Byers, reading coach at Lincoln Elementary School
Anita Foy, science teacher at Childersburg Middle School
Joanna Finch, band director at Childersburg High School
Katie Hendrix, gifted education teacher at Lincoln Elementary
Hannah McBurnett, media specialist at Charles R. Drew Middle School
Meghann Stuart, special education teacher at Childersburg Elementary School
Pam Thomas, counselor at Childersburg High School.
Earning Maintenance of Certification were Dr. Carol Edwards of Childersburg High School and Ashley Gable, assistant principal at Munford Elementary School.
District leaders said the recognition reflects each educator’s dedication to reflective practice, subject mastery, and student growth. National Board Certified Teachers are widely regarded as representing the highest professional standards in education.
The district also thanked mentors Tammy Bailey of Charles R. Drew Middle School and Elizabeth Russell of Lincoln High School for guiding and supporting this year’s cohort through the certification process.
