East Central Alabama student wins Congressional Art Competition

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Artistic high school students from the Third District of Alabama, represented by Congressman Mike Rogers, were honored over the weekend in Sylacauga.

Rep. Rogers announced the winners of the 2017 Third District Congressional Art Competition. Alex Howard, a junior at Opelika High School, took first place for her artwork in pencil titled “MOM.” Howard competed against 28 contestants. Her artwork will be displayed for one year in the walkway leading to the U.S. Capitol.

All artwork submitted for the contest was on view at Sylacauga’s Comer Museum.
