SPD reports driver collides with Sylacauga ABC store; taken to hospital for treatment


SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Sylacauga Police were called to the scene of an accident this afternoon after a car crashed completely through the storefront of Sylacauga ABC store on Main Ave.

SPD Chief Kelley Johnson said a 67-year-old male was attempting to back put his 2018 Buick LaCross  in reverse. Instead, the car was in drive, causing the driver to accelerate through the building.

The driver responsible for the accident was taken to CVMC Emergency Department for treatment. There were four customers inside the store at the time that were not injured.

SPD would not confirm if alcohol was directly related to the crash.
