SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Why get all dressed up to fight the crowd at a big city mall to finish your Christmas shopping when you can shop locally in your most comfortable outfit in your wardrobe, your pajamas. You can do just that thanks to the Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce. In under a week, the chamber will host a Christmas pajama party in downtown Sylacauga to put a nice spin on one of the last days of the holiday shopping season.
Next Tuesday, Dec. 19, all members of the community are invited to put on their favorite pair of Christmas pajamas and finish last minute Christmas shopping in downtown Sylacauga. Several stores will be staying open later than normal and serving milk and cookies while you shop.
The retailers participating are Yoder’s, Heavenly Grounds, Trailwares, Buttons and Bows, Lou Belle’s, Magnolia’s, Think Again, and Peddler Paula’s. Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Laura Strickland encourages everyone to take a selfie while shopping. Once the selfie is taken, post it on Facebook using the hashtag #SylXmasPJParty. Once you post, you will be entered to win a basket of goodies from some of your favorite local stores.
“We always have a great turnout when our local businesses do something special for the holidays, and we expect Tuesday night to be no different,” said Strickland. “This will be the perfect opportunity for everyone to finish their Christmas shopping early as opposed to waiting until the last minute. We really think everyone should come see what these stores have to offer.”
The Pajama Party will start at 5:00 p.m. and stores will close at 8:00 p.m. Strickland is encouraging everyone to bring friends and family to enjoy the festive atmosphere.
