SYLACAUGA, Ala. – A Tuesday night dispute between a father and son left the father shot in Taylor Estates.

Sylacauga Police Department Officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Sedgefield Drive. Upon arriving at the scene, officers located 45-year-old Fredrick Eugene “Trey” Ivey III suffering from a single gunshot to his lower abdomen. Ivey was transported via Lifesaver helicopter to UAB Hospital in Birmingham.

According to the police, after speaking to witnesses on the scene, it appeared that the victim was shot by his 19-year-old son during a domestic violence incident. The son remained on the scene and is cooperating with law enforcement, and no charges have been filed at this time.
