OAK GROVE, Ala. – A new fitness center has officially opened between Sylacauga and Childersburg.
Located on Hwy. 280 beside First Baptist Church of Oak Grove, Diamond Fitness is a brand new gym started by Megan Boggan. Boggan and her husband are the owners of Good Ole Boys BBQ which serve the local area with five different locations. However, Boggan has always had a great interest in fitness, specifically yoga, and she saw a need for a type of workout regiment that no other center around offers.
“Child care and group fitness,” Boggan said. “[Those] are things that women definitely gravitate towards. You have another woman in there doing the same thing you are. You’re not just wandering around a gym wondering what’s going on. With child care, there’s a bunch of women in the community who have children. The biggest thing they say is, ‘I have nowhere for my kid to go.’ [These mothers] need to get back in the gym. It’s time to themselves.”
The group classes that Boggan offers include Zumba, Les Mills Bodypump, Les Mills Core, Bungee, and yoga.
While the downstairs portion of the fitness center is entirely focused on Boggan’s gym, the upstairs part of Diamond Fitness is shared by two other business partners. Dr. Jarod Speer of Childersburg Primary Care and Misty Grogan, owner of MG Tans/Studio, also operate out of the building.
Dr. Speer utilizes four specialized medical machines that focus on “aesthetics and wellness.” The body-toning and fat-burning devices are unique to Dr. Speer’s practice in the area. He considers the chance to work with Boggan at Diamond Fitness a “great opportunity.”
“[We want] to get in front of particularly women who are health-conscious, who are wanting to feel better,” said Dr. Speer. “Urinary incontinence is a big problem with women who try to exercise. They may suffer from problems with this and we can help them with that. This is sort of a cheat, a jump start to looking better.”
MG Tans/Studio offers beautification techniques such as lash extensions, waxing, and dermaplaning. Grogan is thrilled to be at Diamond Fitness with her longtime friend, Boggan.
“It’s phenomenal,” expressed Grogan. “Now we can showcase everything that we’ve worked so hard to put together over the past couple of years.”
