CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – Members of the Talladega County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority attended the Childersburg City Council meeting on Tuesday, May 5 to raise awareness and support for the organization’s mission in local communities.
Delta Sigma Theta is a nonprofit public service organization dedicated to providing assistance and support through established programs in communities around the world. The organization is guided by its core values of scholarship, sisterhood, service, and social action.
Chartered in May 1977, the Talladega County Alumnae Chapter serves the communities of Childersburg, Sylacauga, Talladega, Lincoln, Munford, and Winterboro. The chapter has a long history of organizing voter registration drives and community Fun Day activities. Members have also partnered with local communities to assist families during the holidays and organize mentoring programs for youth.
One of the organization’s proudest traditions is supporting young people in Talladega County through scholarships. Over the past five years, the Talladega County Alumnae Chapter has awarded more than $8,000 in scholarships to students at Childersburg High School and more than $50,667 in scholarships countywide.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority continues its legacy of service, leadership, and excellence by working to build stronger communities, empower future leaders, and make a lasting impact one program, one student, and one family at a time. The organization said it looks forward to partnering with local communities to foster additional impactful programs.
