SYLACAUGA, Ala. – You have seen and heard the political ads and seen the signs on the highways. The primary election for many public offices is quickly approaching. The deadline to register or update your information to vote in the primary elections is approaching even quicker.
Election day is June 5, but if you want to vote, you must register or your information must be updated by May 21. This date is 15 days prior to the June 5 election which is the standard for registering to vote in any election.
If you have yet to register, you can do so on the Alabama Electronic Voter Registration Application website. You can use the site to submit an application for voter registration or to submit an update to your registration information.
To register there are a few requirements you must meet.
- You must be a citizen of the United States.
- You must live in the State of Alabama.
- You must be at least 18 years of age on or before election day.
- You must not be barred from voting by reason of a disqualifying felony conviction.
- You must not have been judged “mentally incompetent” in a court of law.
You must also have a form of photo identification issued by the state of Alabama. This can be a driver’s license, or a valid Alabama non-driver’s identification card.

To register traditionally, you can fill out a Voter Registration Form from the Secretary of State website and mail or hand deliver to your county registrar’s office.
Talladega County has two registrars office. In Talladega the mailing address is PO Box 6170 Talladega, Alabama 35161-6170. The physical address is 1 Courthouse Square Talladega, Alabama 35160.
There is also a registrars office in Sylacauga. The mailing address and the physical address is 400 N Norton Ave. Sylacauga, Alabama 35150-2010.
