CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – The Childersburg Police Department is investigating a recent incident at A.H. Watwood Elementary School.

On Monday at approximately 2:10 p.m. CPD and Talladega County Sheriff Deputies responded to a call regarding a lunchroom window that had been shattered by an unidentified projectile.

The school was briefly placed on lockdown by school administration.

Upon further investigation, the evidence suggests that the window was shattered due to a pellet type projectile. The projectile did not penetrate the interior side of the double paned window.  Several small pellet fragments were recovered from the window and the area around it.

The investigation is ongoing. As precautionary, additional officers have been placed at Watwood Elementary for the remainder of the week and next week.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact CPD investigators at 256-378-5747.
