SYLACAUGA, Ala. – As more vaccines continue to rollout, the total number of hospitalization across the state of Alabama continue to decrease.

For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic started, Coosa Valley Medical Center is reporting it has zero COVID positive patients on its campus.

“After months of tireless efforts by our team, it is encouraging to see the number of positives in our community and on our campus declining,” said CVMC CNO/COO, Amy Price. “Our day to day work has been forever changed by this pandemic. We’re excited about cautiously moving past it and creating our new normal.”

Alabama’s statewide mask mandate is set to expire on April 9 and is not expected to be renewed.

Although wearing a mask will be a personal choice after April 9, individuals are encouraged to maintain three-feet social distancing and wear a mask when social distancing cannot be practiced.
