COVID-19 numbers remain moderate in Talladega County ahead of Christmas holiday


SYLACAUGA, Ala. – COVID-19 numbers are steadily increasing in the state of Alabama.

According to the Alabama Department of Public Health’s COVID-19 risk indicator, there is a moderate amount of COVID-19 activity in Talladega County.

Talladega County is currently reporting 4,818 positive COVID-19 cases.  A total of 725 cases have been confirmed just in the last two weeks. Talladega County has reported a total of 72 deaths due to COVID-19.

According to healthcare officials, a large portion of positive cases are being reported among individuals 25-49 years of age.

There are currently 31,651 total hospitalizations across the state.

Alabama is under a mask ordinance until Jan. 22  to help slow the spread of the virus.

With it being the holiday season, follow healthcare guidelines to help keep you and your family safe. Remember to wash your hands, wear masks in public, keep your hands away from your face, and continue to practice six-feet social distancing.
