SYLACAUGA, Ala. – COVID-19 numbers are steadily increasing in the state of Alabama following the Christmas holiday.
According to the Alabama Department of Public Health’s COVID-19 risk indicator, there is a moderate amount of COVID-19 activity in Talladega County placing it in the ‘yellow’ category.
Talladega County is currently reporting 5,984 positive COVID-19 cases. A total of 914 cases have been confirmed just in the last two weeks. Talladega County has reported a total of 108 deaths due to COVID-19.
The state of Alabama alone is currently reporting 410,995 positive COVID-19 cases. A total of 56,708 cases have been confirmed in the last two weeks. Alabama has recorded 5,760 deaths due to COVID-19.
There are currently 38,007 total hospitalizations across the state, placing hospitals across the state on critical diversion.
Alabama is under a mask ordinance until Jan. 22 to help slow the spread of the virus.
