SYLACAUGA Ala. – The state of Alabama continues to trend upward in the number of positive Coronavirus cases being reported.
Gov. Kay Ivey’s Safer at Home order that was originally supposed to expire on July 3, has been extended until July 31 at 5:00 p.m.
Residents in Talladega County are still taking safety precaution, however, the total number of cases countywide are beginning to rise according to the latest health statistics.
Talladega County now has 253 positive cases, which is lower when compared to other counties throughout the state.
Coosa Valley Medical Center announced an uptick in positive COVID-19 cases within the last 7 days. Last week, 9 outpatients tested positive.
CVMC has completed 309 COVID-19 tests, with 26 patients testing positive. One patient was hospitalized as of Tuesdsay afternoon.
“We urge everyone to wash your hands, wear masks in public, keep your hands away from your face and continue to practice six-feet social distancing,” said CVMC community outreach coordinator Lindsay Johns.
According to the Alabama Department of Public Health, Jefferson County has the most cases in the state with 4,099 COVID-19 confirmed cases.
The state of Alabama has now recorded 37,175 positive cases with 929 deaths.
