SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Coosa Valley Medical Center will spotlight heart health during its February Community Links program, encouraging residents to take steps toward preventing cardiovascular disease.

In recognition of American Heart Month, the event, titled “The Heart of Prevention: Taking Control of Your Cardiovascular Health,” will be held Monday, Feb. 2, at the B.B. Comer Memorial Library’s Hightower Room. Lunch begins at 11:00 a.m., followed by the presentation at 12:00 p.m.

Blood pressure checks will be available prior to the program.

Dr. David Schultz, a specialist in general and interventional cardiology, will lead the discussion on practical strategies for preventing heart disease, the importance of routine health screenings, and how early detection can save lives.

Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States. Organizers say the program will encourage community members to take an active role in protecting their heart health and reducing risk in the years ahead.
