SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Coosa Valley Medical Center continues to make tremendous strides in all aspects of healthcare, but maybe none as big as those made in its Imaging department.

A hospital’s Imaging department is one of the most important pieces of providing quality healthcare to a patient. In fact, imaging is where the entire process begins.  Imaging is all the different ways that physicians are able to look inside your body. A diagnostic imaging center has equipment and trained specialists to perform the right tests, and is used to guide treatments so doctors can give the least invasive treatments possible.

“The more advanced the technology, the better we can support the physicians in diagnosing and treating multiple conditions, and that is really the role of imaging,” said CVMC Chief Nursing and Operating Officer Amy Price.

CVMC’s  comprehensive imaging services are more advanced than ever and truly meet patients at their point of need.

The enhancements start with the patient experience. New technology has decreased patient wait time, creating a better and faster trip to the hospital. Streamlining processes means faster imaging results, quicker care and an improved time to recovery.

“The combination of highly trained staff and cutting edge technology allows us to meet patients at their point of need,” said Jeremy Herring, Director of Imaging and Cardiovascular Services at CVMC. “Our passion is serving our community, and being able to provide you with the best experience possible, while having your imaging needs met right here at home.”

Dose reduction software has also enabled the highest quality image with the lowest amount of exposure to radiation possible. “This is one of the biggest pieces of all of our technology upgrades,” Herring explained. “Reducing radiation doses increases the quality of the image while reducing the associated risk.”

The imaging services CVMC provides to patients is extensive. These services include; CT scans, fluoroscopy, digital mammography, ultrasound, x-ray, nuclear medicine, stress testing and more.

“The acquisition of this technology and equipment allows us to better support our physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of a multitude of diseases,” Price remarked. “This is another example of how CVMC lives out our mission of enhancing the health and wholeness of each individual we serve.”
