Coosa Valley Medical Center honored auxiliary members on Wednesday

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Coosa Valley Medical Center (CVMC) held the Auxiliary Award Banquet at the hospital on Wednesday afternoon, April 19.

The CVMC Auxiliary is a group of retired men and women who volunteer their time at the hospital participating in service projects and fundraisers to support and buy supplies for CVMC.

For over 35 years, the CVMC Auxiliary served the hospital until the COVID-19 pandemic hit and halted Auxiliary activities in 2020. Around three years passed before the Auxiliary could resume activities in the hospital.

“We especially wanted to honor our auxiliary members today after about three years of being away due to the pandemic,” said CVMC CEO Glenn Sisk. “Their continued support of CVMC, and now the support of the CVMC Foundation, will go a long way in supporting the continuous efforts here of purchasing equipment and supporting the needs of our physicians, staff, and most importantly our patients.”

People in pink and red attire filled the chairs of the room Thursday. Pink jackets represented the females, and in red were the males. Each of these selfless members of the Sylacauga community were recognized for their outstanding volunteer efforts at CVMC.

We have stopped this week during National Volunteer Week to celebrate our auxilians,” said Vanessa Green, Chief Business Development Officer. “2019 was the last time we were able to have this recognition service. We are back. We are growing. We are recruiting new members, and we are going to be stronger than ever.”

Green told SylacaugaNews.com that the gift shop, an area where auxilians serve at CVMC, will re-open in a few short weeks with Cuppa Grace Coffee as a new addition to the hospital.”

CVMC’s Hickory Street Cafe provided the meal to everyone in attendance.

The program was successful in recognizing the many members of the CVMC Auxiliary for their continued hours of service to CVMC.
