CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – Coosa Pines Federal Credit Union recently donated $1,000 each to four charities serving children in the institution’s charter area. The contributions were made to Alabama Childhood Food Solutions of Central Alabama, Boy’s Club of Sylacauga, Children’s Place in St. Clair County, and King’s Ranch in Shelby County.

“These four organizations fill many needs of children across Central Alabama,” Coosa Pines FCU said in a release. “Together they feed hungry children and their families, offer mentors and tutors, afford access to new experiences and opportunities, provide safe homes free of abuse and neglect, furnish counseling, and more.”

“Coosa Pines is committed to improving the lives of children in the communities we serve,” said CEO Don Carden. “These four donations were part of over $37 thousand the credit union has given to our local schools and other organizations helping children in the first five months of 2022. When you consider the $22,000 in scholarships that were awarded this year along with report card rewards, financial literacy resources, and free accounts for all students ages preschool through college, CPFCU has already granted almost $81 thousand to local youth this year.”

Coosa Pines also hires paid college interns, many of whom start the summer after high school graduation, and work with the credit union through every college break. “It is great to hire intelligent, energetic young people, provide them with firsthand business experience, and see them mature and go on to successful careers,” said Carden. “We have had interns who have come back to careers with CPFCU, including our COO Trent Barnett, Accounting Manager Benjamin Puckett, and Member Service Representative Melissa Weaver.”

Coosa Pines FCU was chartered in 1950 and has a field of membership that includes Talladega, Shelby, St. Clair, Jefferson, Coosa, and Clay counties, Alabama. Coosa Pines has over $330 million in assets and over 24,000 members. (NCUA.gov) Their five branches are in Childersburg, Sylacauga, Chelsea, Pell City, and Vincent.
