CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – Coosa Pines Federal Credit Union recently announced the recipients of its annual scholarship program, granting a total of $22,000 to deserving high school graduates who plan to pursue higher education in the upcoming fall semester.

This year, Coosa Pines FCU awarded 22 scholarships of $1,000 each to exceptional students from 11 local high schools.

Expressing their commitment to supporting the communities they serve, Coosa Pines CEO Don Carden highlighted the importance of encouraging talented students to pursue their educational aspirations, saying, “The credit union is dedicated to improving our communities by providing financial assistance to the best and brightest individuals who are committed to achieving their educational goals.”

“These scholarships are not only awarded for academic excellence but also recognize students who embody the credit union’s values of personal and civic responsibility,” Carden added.

Applicants were required to submit an essay detailing how acts of service, whether given or received, had personally impacted them.

Taylor Shurette from Coosa Central High School, one of the scholarship recipients, exemplified the “people helping people” philosophy of credit unions in her essay.

Shurette wrote, “Making a daily commitment to treat people fairly, kindly, and extending a smile and a listening ear can truly change someone’s day and potentially have a profound impact on their life.”

Coosa Pines Federal Credit Union has been awarding scholarships for over a decade, consistently supporting the educational dreams of local students. Membership in the credit union is a prerequisite for applying, but it is free for students ranging from preschool to college.

Interested students can obtain membership at any branch location or by visiting the credit union’s website at CoosaPinesFCU.org and clicking on the “Join Now” link.

Established in 1950, Coosa Pines FCU has a wide field of membership in Alabama, encompassing Talladega, Shelby, St. Clair, Jefferson, Coosa, and Clay counties.

With over $351 million in assets and more than 24,600 members, Coosa Pines FCU remains a trusted financial institution in the region. The credit union operates five branches located in Childersburg, Sylacauga, Chelsea, Pell City, and Vincent.
