SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Coosa Pines Federal Credit Union and Alabama Childhood Food Solutions have teamed up for a noble cause to make a difference in the lives of food-insecure students.
The credit union is partaking in a donation drive for Alabama Childhood Food Solution’s backpack program, which serves public school students in Central Alabama.
The backpack program provides essential, nutritious, and easy-to-prepare food items to students who may not have access to such resources during weekends and holiday breaks. Research shows that students facing food insecurity can lag up to two years behind their classmates, and hunger also makes them twice as likely to get sick.
To combat this issue, Coosa Pines FCU is seeking donations of various food items, including ramen noodles, Chef Boyardee products, individual servings of fruits and applesauce, oatmeal, and more. Additionally, juice boxes, cereal boxes, pudding cups, and cheese crackers (peanut-free) are also welcomed.
Donations can be dropped off at any Coosa Pines Federal Credit Union location between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. from now until Friday, Aug. 11. A list of requested items is available on both the credit union’s Facebook page as well as their website, CoosaPinesFCU.org.
