COOSA COUNTY, Ala. – The Coosa County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) has announced the arrest of Leadam Qunitez Kelly in connection with the 2019 murder of Andre Lamonde Davis.

Kelly has been charged with Capital Murder and is also facing drug-related charges.

On Feb. 3, 2019, the Coosa County Law Enforcement Dispatch Center received a call reporting a traffic accident.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they discovered that 29-year old Andre Lamonde Davis had been shot and was later pronounced dead by the county coroner. The Alabama State Bureau of Investigations was called in to conduct an investigation into the case.

On Thursday, May 4, an arrest was made in connection with Davis’s murder.

Leadam Qunitez Kelly was taken into custody and charged with Capital Murder.

During the course of the investigation, a search warrant was executed on Kelly’s residence, where over one pound of marijuana and over 120 grams of synthetic marijuana were discovered. Kelly was then charged with drug trafficking and possession of marijuana.

The CCSO expressed its gratitude to the United States Marshal Gulf Coast Task Force, the Alabama State Bureau of Investigations, the Coosa/Clay County District Attorney’s Office, the Tallapoosa County Narcotics Task Force, the Alexander City Police Department, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office K9 Division, the Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Office, and the deputies and investigators with the CCSO for their assistance in the case.

This arrest brings closure to a long-standing case and serves as a reminder of the tireless efforts of law enforcement in keeping our communities safe.

The CCSO is committed to ensuring justice for all victims of crime and will continue to work diligently to solve cases and bring offenders to justice.
