SYLACAUGA, Ala. – “You are Beautiful” will be the theme of the After School Party for 7th-12th grade girls at Comer Museum and Arts Center on March 29 from 3:00 – 4:30 p.m.
Kristen Greenwood, GirlSpring Executive Director, will be the featured guest at the After School Party. She will show girls how to post their art, articles, illustrations, photos, poetry, posters, and projects on the GirlSpring website. Kristen strategically integrates Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education and programming into every service service component offered through GirlSpring.
The theme “You are Beautiful” is more than just a saying for this event. Girls STEAM Project Director Audrey Salgado believes self-esteem is critical in young ladies. “We want to let girls know they are beautiful,” she said. “When a girl has healthy self-esteem, they are more likely to believe they are beautiful. Our project develops self-esteem so the girls believe they are valued, competent, worthy loved and accepted.”
Students can come straight from school. There will be snacks, drinks, and music. No reservations are required. Parents must pick their daughters up at 4:30 p.m.
