SYLACAUGA, Ala. – During the month of December, the Isabel Anderson Comer Museum and Arts Center was closed for renovation. The main art gallery walls were gutted, replaced, and updated for a brand new look and feel.
“We wouldn’t have been able to do this without a generous donation from County Commissioner Philip Morris,” explained Museum Director Judy Green. “We will also be adding an awning in the next couple of months. We are open again and ready for visitors to stop by and see what we have done.”
The museum is located next to Sylacauga High School at 711 North Broadway Ave. It’s open for visitors Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
According to Green, the January exhibit is titled “Four Lenses,” featuring the art work of four very different photographers.
“Come by and see their beautiful work displayed in our newly renovated main gallery,” Green said. “Our artists’ reception is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 16 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.”
There is never a charge to visit the museum or the monthly artist’s receptions. Come out, meet the artists, and see their lovely work. Refreshments will also be served.
