SYLACAUGA, Ala. – This Saturday, April 2, Sylacauga will hold a community-wide Garbage and Litter Clean-up Day.
Earlier this month, Sylacauga Mayor Jim Heigl proclaimed April as Litter Prevention Awareness Month. The first step towards that awareness and prevention begins this weekend.
Those who wish to help in the efforts can meet at the old Food World parking lot on Main Ave. at 7:45 a.m. as the clean-up will last from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
An adequate amount of dumpsters will be located in the parking lot, and all supplies needed for garbage and litter pickup will be on-hand.
The clean-up day is sponsored by not only the city, but also the Sylacauga Beautification Council, the local garden clubs, and the Talladega County Commission.
