Citizens organize Comer Cemetery clean-up

SHARE NOW

SYLACAUGA Ala.- On Saturday, May 30 there will be a clean-up for the Comer Cemetery in the Mill Village.

The clean-up will start at 7 a.m. and will continue until the job is finished. Paul Stepp, who is the organizer, asked for, any volunteers to come, and for them to bring pick-up trucks, lawn mowers, shovels, and any other equipment to help the cemetery look better.

“Most of the ones buried in Comer Cemetery worked for Avondale Mills, and by their hard work and devotion to the area, they helped build the community and made Sylacauga the great city it is today,” said Stepp in a Facebook post. “No cemetery should suffer from neglect, and we owe it to the ones resting there to see that the cemetery is kept up.”

Comer Cemetery is located on East Street.
