SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Southern Dance and Performing Arts Company (SDPAC) will hold dance camps this summer along with a children’s theatre throughout June.
SDPAC, a program of the Southern Alliance for Family Enhancement (SAFE), has finalized its plans for its Summer 2023 children’s theatre and dance camps.
For over 20 years, SDPAC has offered summer dance camps, and that tradition will continue this year as children ages 3-18 can choose from a list of classes including contemporary, ballet, jazz, lyrical, and worship dance.
Starting prices for classes are $100 per student, but prices can vary based on how many classes are being taken or a family’s status in regards to multiple siblings.
New to this year is the children’s theatre. From June 5-24, kids ages 8-16 are encouraged to tryout for a part in the production of Disney’s The Aristocats Kids.
The cost of the children’s theatre is $150.
Throughout the three week timeframe, practices are scheduled for Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
The lone show date for Disney’s The Aristocats Kids is set for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, at First Baptist Church in Sylacauga.
Joseph McDonald and Shaylyn Vick are tabbed to direct the children’s theatre camp.
Dance class and theatre camp registration is available online at sdpac.net, calling (256) 245-1669, or at the SDPAC studios located at 109 N. Broadway Ave.
The Southern Dance and Performing Arts Company is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating a solid and focused experience for each student – on and off-stage – providing unique performing arts programs.
