CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – The Childersburg Tigers have won two roundball games in a row after defeating the Vincent Yellow Jackets, 54-39, on Thursday night, Dec. 5.
The Cats are now 4-5 on this young season, but don’t let that record fool you. Four of their five losses on the season have come to Class 5A, 6A, and 7A schools in a lot of close games.
The contest on Thursday though was not close until early in the fourth quarter when Vincent closed the gap to five points, but Johnny Johnson’s Tigers squeezed their defense again and ended up with a 15 point victory.
Hot shooting early by T.D. Smith and Seneca Shealey rushed the home team out early. Johnson after the game said, “I thought we shot it well early with T.D. and the other guys, and Coach Gerald Wallace is always going to have them ready defensively. He takes it on as a challenge to prepare them on the defensive end. This was a quality win for us.”
The Childersburg Tigers can move their season record to an even .500 if they can find themselves in the win column again on Monday as they step into area play when Altamont comes calling.
The game will start at 2:00 p.m. in the afternoon, giving the student body the opportunity to watch the Cats fight.
