CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – The Childersburg Tigers baseball team faced a tough start to the week against Vincent but bounced back with dominant wins over Sylvania and Donoho.
On Monday, the Tigers fell to the Class 2A top-ranked Vincent Yellow Jackets, 5-1.
Vincent took control in the third inning with a two-run single by Grayson Gulde. Landon Archer secured the win for Vincent, allowing only two hits and one run over five innings, while striking out six.
Childersburg’s Tyler Pope took the loss despite a strong performance, striking out six over five and one-third innings, with four unearned runs allowed. Jatavious Truss and Parker Dennis each had a hit for the Tigers, while Dennis drove in the team’s lone run.
On Tuesday, Childersburg rebounded with an offensive explosion for a 17-4 win over the Donoho Falcons. Parker Dennis led the charge, going 3-for-3 with four RBIs. The Tigers racked up 13 hits, with Chase Price going 4-for-4 and Manny Olague adding two hits. Dennis also pitched four innings, striking out eight while allowing just two earned runs. Cam Estelle closed the game with a scoreless inning.
The Tigers continued their scoring ways on Wednesday with another dominant 17-4 victory over the Sylvania Rams.
Lane Morris had a standout performance, going 3-for-3 with a key three-run double in an eight-run second inning. Morris, Brandon Calhoun, and Jo’Marlen Woods combined for six of Childersburg’s 10 hits. Parker Dennis contributed three RBIs, while Patten Oakes earned the win on the mound, allowing four runs on four hits over five innings. The Tigers were patient at the plate, drawing eight walks and stealing five bases.
Childersburg will travel to Midfield next Monday March 31 for an area contest, looking to keep their momentum rolling.
