CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – Coach Will Donahoo and his Tigers will travel to Randolph County today, trying to get wins two and three to start area play after defeating their cat counterparts on Monday, 13-0, at Garland Justice Field in Childersburg.

The visiting Randolph County Tigers started Monday afternoon with Ryder Pinson doubling, but Childersburg’s Payton Tanner struck out the side and kept Pinson stranded at second base.

Then, Tanner scored along with Tyler Pope in the bottom of the first to take a 2-0 lead. Lane Morris would score in the bottom of the second and, and he scored three more times on the day.

Coach Donahoo’s Cats then busted loose in the bottom of the fourth for ten runs to put it out of reach at 13-0. Every player on the lineup card but one scored at least once with Morris leading the way by walking three times and scoring on all. The home cats got timely hitting with runners on base and put a lot of pressure on their opponents with their speed.

The biggest story of the day, however, was Payton Tanner.

While doing his part in the batters box, he was even more impressive on the mound. In five innings, Tanner only faced 19 batters, giving up two hits and surrendering only one walk. The senior also struck out nine with six of them having Randolph County watching the third strike go by.

The Tigers travel to Wedowee today to take on their area foes again in game two of the set. Today’s game can be heard on the home of Childersburg athletics, the Tiger Sports Network on KiX 100.3.

First pitch is slated for 4:30 p.m.
