CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – Childersburg High School (CHS) held its Spring sports’ banquet on Saturday afternoon, May 20, to honor the outstanding performers of the 2023 season and bid farewell to graduating seniors in basketball and baseball.
The boys’ basketball team celebrated their achievements with several accolades.
Captains Isaac Marbury and Ja’kaleb Stone received plaques for their leadership, while Marbury also claimed Offensive MVP alongside Stone. Stone was recognized as the Defensive MVP, and Trent Twymon was applauded as the Most Improved Player.
Kordes Swain and Isaac Marbury excelled as rebounders, Jordan Mann achieved the highest GPA, and Sharod Robertson stood out as the Assist Leader.
The seniors, including Stone, Marbury, Swain, Twymon, Mann, Robertson, and Terreance “T” Roberson, were presented with plaques.
Isaac Marbury was crowned Player of the Year, and Stone earned a spot on the All County 1st Team alongside Swain. Robertson received recognition as part of the 2nd Team, and Mann received an Honorable Mention.
The Lady Tigers of the girls’ basketball team were also honored on Saturday.
Jada Swain, the team’s only senior, was honored as the Offensive MVP, showcasing her exceptional scoring abilities. Aubrey Foy was recognized as the Defensive MVP, and Ainsley Foy’s progress throughout the season earned her the title of Most Improved Player.
Mikayla Wells demonstrated her prowess in rebounding, leading the team in that category. The #WEoverMe Team MVP award was shared by Aubrey Foy and Demee Towns, emphasizing their selfless contributions to the team’s success.
In terms of All-County selections, Jada Swain making the 1st Team, Aubrey Foy on the 2nd Team, and Ainsley Foy, Shakira Harrison, Rakiya Spell, and Mikayla Wells receiving Honorable Mention.
For Tiger baseball, Lane Dennis claimed Offensive MVP, while Payton Tanner earned Pitcher of the Year honors.
Jordan Mann and J.D. Oakes both received Gold Glove awards for their exceptional defensive skills.
Dawson Towne was recognized as the Most Improved Player, and Tyler Pope was named Rookie of the Year.
The baseball team bid farewell to their seniors, including Trent Twymon, J.D. Oakes, Lane Dennis, Jordan Mann, and “T” Roberson, who were praised for their contributions to the team’s success.
