BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Scott Limbaugh, a Childersburg native, has won SEC Coach of the Year as the head coach of the Vanderbilt Men’s Golf team.
Since being named head coach in 2012, Limbaugh has claimed two SEC Coach of the Year honors while leading the Commodores. Limbaugh led his team to three team championships this season, and they finished in the top five of every tournament except the season-opener.
Vanderbilt finished the season as the No. 4 ranked team in the country and the highest in the SEC. He coached three All-SEC first team selections, including SEC Player of the Year Will Gordon. With this year’s additions, he has now coached three SEC Players of the Year and 19 All-SEC selections.
Vanderbilt is playing in their sixth-consecutive NCAA Championship. They face Texas A&M in the quarterfinals on May 28. Prior to Limbaugh’s tenure as head coach, Vanderbilt had only advanced to three NCAA Championships.
Limbaugh, a Huntington College graduate, was an assistant coach at Alabama after serving as head coach of his alma mater.
