HOOVER, Ala. – Childersburg native Jayla Duncan, a sophomore at Samford University, has been crowned Miss Hamilton 2024. Her victory now paves the way for her journey to the Miss Alabama competition in June 2024.
The 19-year-old Duncan, who graduated from Childersburg High School in May 2022, is already making a significant impact.
While at Samford, she has displayed her multifaceted talents as a cheerleader and the sophomore class vice-president. Pursuing a B.A. in Journalism/Mass Communications with a minor in Political Science and Sports Media, she exemplifies academic dedication and community service.
Duncan’s commitment to her community shines through her anti-bullying initiative, “Jayla’s Justice: An Anti-Bullying Campaign,” which she began in 2015. As a proactive advocate against bullying, she also established the 501(c)3 non-profit Be the SPARK Foundation, aiming to raise funds for anti-bullying materials used in schools and throughout the community.
Miss Hamilton, a preliminary competition for the Miss Alabama pageant, is an integral part of the Miss America scholarship organization.
