WASHINGTON, D.C. – Childersburg native Austin Moore has been selected by U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) as one of the 30 nominees for appointments to United States service academies.
The announcement was made in an official press release on Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 9.
The prestigious nominations include the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Military Academy, and U.S. Naval Academy for the class of 2028.
“In a time of global instability, our military needs brave young men and women to ensure America continues to have the strongest fighting force in the world,” said Senator Tuberville. “It’s an honor to nominate these great Alabamians to our United States service academies. I am thankful for their desire to serve and defend our country. I look forward to following their continued success and know they will continue to make our state proud.”
Nominees undergo a rigorous application process, including ACT and SAT exams, recommendation letters, transcripts, and application forms.
Moore, a Fayetteville High School student, was nominated for the U.S. Air Force Academy and is set to make Childersburg proud as he vies for a coveted spot in a U.S. service academy.
