Childersburg man, Rockford juvenile arrested after allegedly crashing stolen Sylacauga vehicle; breaking in cars in Shelby Co.

SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. – A Childersburg man and a Rockford juvenile were arrested Thursday night in Shelby County after reports of breaking and entering into vehicles in the area of the Narrows subdivision.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office wrote said in a press release that it responded to multiple calls of suspicious persons walking down the road who had entered a vehicle in a nearby cul-de-sac.

SCSO said the caller provided detailed information of the suspects’ clothing and the vehicle they were in.

According to SCSO, the described vehicle, which was stolen from Sylacauga, left the neighborhood, and was found wrecked near Benson Plaza in Chelsea. Deputies established a perimeter in the area and waited for the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office helicopter to arrive. With the assistance of other citizens calling 911, deputies were able to identify the location of the suspects inside of the wooded area behind the Yellowleaf subdivision in Chelsea.

With resources from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division, Criminal Investigations Division, Drug Enforcement Task Force, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Air Support Unit, as well as the Chelsea Citizens Observer Patrol and local citizens, the two suspects were apprehended.

22-year-old Terrell Lamarcus McCain of Childrsburg is charged with one count of Receiving Stolen Property 1st, one count of Attempting to Elude Law Enforcement, one count of Criminal Mischief 3rd, three counts of Unlawful Breaking and Entering a Vehicle, two counts of Theft of Property 4th and one count of Theft of Property 2nd. He is currently being held at the Shelby County Jail on bonds totaling $66,000.

A 17-year-old unidentified juvenile from Rockford is charged with one count of Receiving Stolen Property 1st, one count of Attempting to Elude Law Enforcement, one count of Criminal Mischief 3rd, three counts of Unlawful Breaking and Entering a Vehicle, two counts of Theft of Property 4th and one count of Theft of Property 2nd. He is currently being held in the Shelby County Juvenile Detention Center.

The case is still ongoing, and additional charges may be filed.
