SYLACAUGA, Ala. – A Friday evening traffic accident on U.S. Highway 280 claimed the life of a 27-year-old from Childersburg.
While riding his bicycle in the left eastbound lane near Merkel Mountain, Chilton Russell Wesley was struck by a 2009 Nissan Altima. According to Alabama State Troopers, the crash occurred at 9:30 p.m., and Wesley was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation is continuing.
