Childersburg Kiwanis Club raises $9,000 during the “Ben Nelson 5K Run/Walk For the Children”

CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – It was a successful Saturday morning for the Childersburg Kiwanis Club, which raised $9,000 for Kiwanis Park, scholarships, and other programs focused on serving the community during the annual “Ben Nelson 5K Run/Walk for the Children.”

Sylacauga’s Caleb Pollard took top honors with a best time of 21:20 for the road course through historic Childersburg.

Kim Schmidt led the females with a time of 36:06.

Besides the top finishers for men and women, others leading the way for their age group were: Rylan Knight (M10-14); Tyran Taylor (M15-19); Tyler Arnold (M20-29); Jason Taylor (M40-49); Pate Story (M60+); Jessica Vick (F10-29); Emily Butler (F30-39); Treasure Harris (F40-49).
