Childersburg girls fall to Rogers 41-50

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Rogers High School rallied from behind in the second half to down Childersburg 50-41 in the Class 4A semifinals at the BJCC Legacy Arena Tuesday.

The Tigers (33-2) held a slim 20-18 lead at halftime but the Pirates (31-3) limited second shots in the final two quarters to squeak out the victory.

Rogers, coached by Blake Prestage, limited Childersburg to just two offensive rebounds in the second half. Coach Gavin King’s Tigers had eight in the first half.

Sophomore forward Brooke Jones led all scorers with 19 points, going 6-of-8 from the field and 6-of-6 at the foul line for Rogers.  She also had four steals and five rebounds. Gabrielle Davis added 10 points and seven rebounds and Maddie Krieger had nine points.

Eunique McKinney and Jailah Swain had 13 points each for Childersburg. Ke’Asia McKinney also had nine. Yamaree Gaddis had six points and six rebounds.

“Our seniors have left a pretty big legacy at our school. This is the first time in the final four in school history,” said Childersburg Head Coach Gavin King. “Our seniors have left a good example of what the rest of our girls should look at.”
