CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – The Childersburg City Council approved Resolution 2026-27 at Tuesday night’s meeting, amending the city’s 2012 Public Records Request Policy and Request Form.

The resolution combines the policy and request form into a single document. Individuals requesting public records or information must specify the records being sought, state the purpose of the examination, and provide a copy of a valid Alabama driver’s license or state-issued identification card.

The updated policy also addresses the limited availability of City Hall staff and establishes fees for research time at $30 per hour, or $7.50 per quarter-hour. Fees for printed copies, electronic transmission, and mailing remain in place and must be paid in advance.

The council also approved Resolution 2026-28, declaring a 1991 International truck surplus property because it is no longer needed for municipal purposes.

In personnel matters, the council approved the hiring of Carlie Thornton as a part-time temporary front desk clerk for the Parks and Recreation Department at a rate of $8.50 per hour.

The council also approved the hiring of Toni Bush as a full-time permanent transportation driver at a rate of $12 per hour.

Council members approved payment of invoices totaling $105,665.80.

The next regular council meeting is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15, following a work session at 10:30 a.m.
