Childersburg City Council report – Aug. 4, 2020

CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – The Childersburg City Council met on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2020, at 6 p.m. for their regular meeting with the following agenda of items for action:

The Council approved a pair of Resolutions, 2020-23 & 2020-24, which issued Certificates of Election to Ward B Councilman Bill Moody and Ward C Councilman Angie Twymon. Neither one faced opposition in the upcoming municipal election.

The Council gave approval for a public hearing for consideration of a recommendation from the Planning Commission to rezone Grove Park from R-2 to R-1. That hearing will take place at 5 p.m. on Sept. 1, 2020 at City Hall.

The Fire Department was approved to hire Andrew Beeghley as a part-time, temporary Firefighter Paramedic at a rate of $15.49 per hour, and Logan Bevels as a part-time, temporary Firefighter Advanced EMT at a rate of $13.50 per hour.

The Council approved For the Street & Sanitation Department to hire two part-time, temporary workers at a six-month probationary rate of $8.50 per hour, to move to $9.00 per hour upon successful completion of their probationary period.

Approval was given to All Gas Liquor to transfer the lounge retail liquor Class II – Package license at 32522 US Hwy 280 Suite A.

The Council approved an advertisement in the Prep Football Magazine at  $295 for a quarter-page ad.

Approval was given to make payment of  invoices in the amount of $121,041.14.

The next regular meeting will be held on Aug. 18, 2020 at 6:00 p.m.
