Childersburg City Council meeting, Sept. 7

CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – The Childersburg City Council met on Tuesday, Sept. 7:

Per a Proclamation from Mayor Ken Wesson, read into the official meeting record that the month of September was declared “Gynecological Cancer Awareness Month” in the City of Childersburg.

The Council voted to approve a pair of ABC Restaurant Liquor License requests. The first is for La Pinata Mexican Grill at 32122 US Highway 280; the second for First Street Grill owner Shatara Avery Mann at 914 1st St. SW.

Also approved was installation of iWave Air Purifiers at the Childersburg Police and Fire Departments at a cost of $1,780 each, paid from Fund 75.

The Council voted to classify Caleb Williams as part-time permanent firefighter/advanced EMS with no change in his rate of pay.

Also approved was the promotion of Lt. Kevin Koss to Captain for the Police Department at a rate of $18.60 per hour.

The Council approved the promotion of Rachel Carlson to Magistrate/Court Clerk at a rate of $14.47 per hour with insurance benefits. After completion of Magistrate Certification, that rate will increase to $15.25.

Approval was also given for Smithco Sand Star Athletic Field Conditioner equipment at a cost of $21.845.35, paid from Fund 65.

Invoices were approved for payment in the amount of $275,845.35.

The next regular meeting of the Council will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 21.
