Childersburg City Council meeting – Sept. 2, 2020

CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – The Childersburg City Council met on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. for their regular meeting with the following agenda of items for action:

The Council approved Resolution 2020-26, which canvassed and certified the 2020 Municipal Election results with no discrepancies from the announced unofficial results.

A Public Hearing wa held prior to the Council meeting concerning a proposed amendment to Zoning Ordinance 1022, that would move the Grove Park zoning from R-2 to R-1. No one spoke in opposition to the proposal, and the Council approved and enacted the amendment.

3. Mayor Ken Wesson issued a Proclamation, designating Sept. 28th in Childersburg as Family Day 2020.

4. The Fire Department was granted approval to hire Michael Phillips as Firefighter/Paramedic as part-time temporary as needed at the rate of $15.49 per hour.

5. The Council approved payment of invoices in the amount of $103,174.22.

6. Approval was given to move Street Department employee Billy Fields from a Maintenance Labor position to Equipment Operator at a probationary pay rate of $9.00 per hour. He will move to $9.50 per hour upon successful completion of the six-month probationary period in Dec. 2020.

The next regular meeting will be held on Sept. 15, 2020 at 6:00 p.m.
